WJA Joins European Jet Set to Promote Safety and Excellence

July 26, 2021  -  Water Jetting Association

The Water Jetting Association, the member organisation for the water jetting industry in the UK, has become a member of the European Water Jetting Institute.

The WJA is now looking forward to working with other members of the EWJI to further shared aims that include continuously improving the safety and technical capabilities of water jetting processes.

WJA Director David Kennedy said: “We’re very pleased to have joined the EWJI. Sharing experiences and expertise and working together to promote water jetting must be a good thing for our industry.“

The WJA’s interests and objectives are closely aligned. We are very happy to share our expertise to support safe jetting internationally. Working within the EWJI will help us achieve that.”

The mission of the EWJI is to promote the water jetting industry and its applications in Europe and to achieve the highest standards of safety, professional integrity and quality of service.

The EWJI was founded in 2013 as a not-for-profit organisation to further the interests of the water jetting industry in Europe. Its work focuses primarily on common water jetting uses, including industrial cleaning, surface preparation, hydrodemolition and sewer cleaning.

The WJA was founded in 1981 and is the UK member organisation for water jetting contractors, businesses that carry out water jetting as part of their industrial processes, equipment manufacturers, equipment hirers, water jetting training providers and related stakeholders.

The association has developed two internationally-respected Codes of Practice – the Blue Code, for the use of high pressure and ultra-hire pressure water jetting, and the Red Code, for using high pressure water jetting in drains and sewers.

It is also the main provider, through WJA approved training providers and instructors, of water jetting training in the UK. Its City & Guilds-accredited courses are recognised across all industrial sectors, including construction, water utilities, manufacturing and petrochemicals.

The WJA has also launched the first qualification designed to establish water jetting competency.

The Level 2 Water Jetting Technician Certificate, accredited by ABBE, which is regulated by Ofqual, is designed to demonstrate operatives are not just trained to carry out water jetting but can be assured to be competent in their operational practice.
